Loomis Trail HOA Update September 24, 2021

Neighbors, just a few items to post before the next October newsletter that are time sensitive:

1) First, thank you all for your cooperation with keeping vehicles out of areas while the trees were trimmed and cut last week.  This was much appreciated.

Also, the timing of the two days that the trimming was done was good with the recent wind and rain storm the day after the cutting.

As many neighbors noticed, there were still limbs and some branches that fell too and this happens with any heavy winds, but it could have been worse.  Neighbors, if you could kindly pick up limbs/branches in front of your homes and dispose of them if you have room in your garbage totes if at all possible. If not, please know that WRS staff will pick them up on their next weekly visit to the neighborhood. Please if you do not have room in your garbage totes, please leave them in the boulevard grass areas for pick up too.  For new neighbors that have moved to Loomis Trails in the last year, please know that limbs and branches may also fall on the roadways and it is a kind gesture to pick up if you can too.  Thanks in advance.

2) Second, a neighbor on Castlerock Drive is requesting a reminder for neighbors to drive the 15 mph speed limit. This is an ongoing reminder again as it has been posted in many past newsletters.  Thanks for sharing with all drivers in the family too that may not read the newsletter.

3) Thirdly, last week James Pierson that lives on Castlerock was outside with his dog on a leash in his backyard when he spotted a very large cougar in his neighbor’s back yard.  James was not personally afraid of the Cougar, but this is an apex predator that is very capable of taking down an adult elk he mentioned.

He also contacted the Sheriff’s Office and the Game Warden alerting them as a precautionary call.  It is also important to alert our neighbors and community of sightings so families are careful and know they do come in our neighborhood.  Safety is important and this is worth sharing, even though sometimes neighbors enjoy hearing the coyotes howl or feel they are part of the neighborhood environment.

Also, Keven Cavanaugh has also had a coyote in his backyard as well and provided a photo to share.  For families with kids, it might be a good idea to talk about this as a safety discussion too with more walkers and bikers in and around the neighborhood.

The next newsletter will be out around the first of October.  Enjoy the weekend sunshine and then comes the rain.
