July 18 Newsletter Updates

Thank You Note Was Received From Hayley Rea on July 5, 2020:Hayley Rea wrote a nice thank you note to share with neighbors from the June Graduation event and reads as follows:

Thank you to everyone who gave their time to our graduation! It was incredible to see so many of our neighbors giving us flowers, cookies, cards, and just their support.  I felt very loved by all our neighbors, some I had never even met.  It meant a lot to see so many people cared enough to do something special for us.  A special thank you to Kathy and Heather for organizing and putting together the event.  It definitely made up for losing part of my senior year.  Thank you again.

A nice thank you was received in our past newsletter too from Jenna as well. Let’s hope we can get an update on how each of their college experience goes this fall by Jenna and Hayley as they begin college journey with some unknowns with everything in society changing so often.

Recent Summer Drive Through of the Neighborhood:
There were twelve neighbors that were notified for the following types of concerns and issues for not following rules this time period. The items addressed included:  Landscaping (Mowing, Weeding, Trimming of Trees and Shrubs, Not Picking Up Yard Waste Debris, Landscape Fabric Showing Resulting in the Need for Refresher Bark to be Added, Garbage Cans Not Being Placed Out of Sight, Lawnmowers Being Left in Driveways/Yards, Neighbors Number of Cars In Driveways, Items Left in Yard and/or Driveways Needing Removing (Ladders, Empty Planters, Miscellaneous Other Items) and the good news is almost all of the responsible homeowners have positively responded by working with Judy Hamner in correcting the issues brought to their attention.

There are still four homeowners that need to take responsibility to understand that by taking care of their own property, they are also enhancing the property values of the entire neighborhood too and their next door neighbors viewing as well.  As a reminder, homeowners are ultimately responsible too of all their renters to follow rules too and to make sure that rules are communicated to renters as well.

For those unaware or not familiar when you live in an HOA Neighborhood, it is normal practice to have quarterly drive throughs or more if necessary when buying property that has an active HOA of volunteer community members and HOA Board of Directors that work together to enforce the neighborhood CC & R’s.  This is to not only protect the short term and long term enhancement of property values, but to maintain a beautiful neighborhood that we all can be proud to live in and with the beauty that surrounds us with the golf course, ponds, and nice walking neighborhood to view.  It is also equally noticeable to see minor and major homeowner’s that need a little reminder of things that might need to be done due to the rules that were established when they bought their home, so please for some do not take it personally when contacted.  A rule is a rule and following it is not often easy to be informed by a phone call, email, and/or letter of this information, so please understand this when being notified.

On the other hand, a huge majority are happy to immediately remedy the issue and be reminded of rules, or they were out of town for a while, or just simply did not know or remember rules when buying property in the neighborhood.  Overall, the HOA Board of Directors and volunteers try to remain flexible as neighbors work to progressing as quick as they can to remedy issues with the supportive role that Judy Hamner with Elite Management plays in coordinating the contacts with homeowners.

Please see below information Judy would like to share with everyone from a Management Company’s Perspective as well that she submitted for this newsletter:

First, I would like to thank all of the owners at Loomis Trail HOA whose homes and yards are maintained throughout the year.  Especially this year. I don’t particularly enjoy making phone calls or sending emails about neglected landscape or too many cars parked in the driveways, but in all honesty many homeowners want to get the job done or comply with the rules and regulations; however, at this time are unable to do so with the border crossing closed and family members coming home to live as jobs were lost and college campuses were closed.

I would also like to thank the homeowners who have found it difficult to keep up their properties but have stepped up when a reminder was given and did their best to take care of any issues whether it was lawn cutting, weeding, tree and shrub pruning, and/or beautifications projects done by themselves or hiring out the work to adhere to keeping their property looking as pristine as possible for the best interest of the neighborhood and their next door neighbors too.

Your Board of Directors and Committee Volunteers is tasked to maintain the community which enhances your property values.  They have not shirked from their responsibilities during this epidemic and neither can we.  The COVID-19 pandemic has taken so much control out of everyone’s lives.  Fear has been replaced by stress and anxiety and not knowing if and when our lives will return to normal.  As a community, we must strive to maintain a sense of normalcy and order to get through this crisis.  I am here to help in any way I can. I am always available to give referrals for work projects should you need them and most importantly just be a lending ear to assist and discuss options and explanations too.

Thanks to All,

Judy Hamner

Dog Poop Continues To Be Happening Again:
In the past three weeks, many piles of large dog poop are appearing throughout the neighborhood on sidewalks in the neighborhood and the boulevard areas in many places. Please if you are walking and/or running with your dog during the daytime or dark evening hours to please be cautious of your dog that might be causing other neighbors to have to pick up poop.  It also could be a family member’s child, relative, or guest visiting that maybe is not familiar with the HOA rules to pick up after their pet and to keep pets on leashes too. It is important to share this information.

New Homeowner Anna Zimmerman Has A Table to Sale:

I briefly this past week met one of our newest homeowners while walking and will be writing a welcome introduction on her and her husband in our next newsletter.  She moved into Pam Dunn’s home on Castlerock last weekend and found she does not have room for a cherished beautiful table. She is asking $200 for it and a family member made it and it is beautiful, but in downsizing they found out they do not have room for once they got to their new home.  Here is the photo of the table and if interested, please contact me at [email protected] and I will forward your interest to her and that is if the table is still available.  See picture:

Summer and Wonderful Weather Ahead to Enjoy Our Local Beauty for Walks, Picnics, and Relaxation:
The weather forecast is looking beautiful into the next 10 days.  Hopefully, some of you have been able to see family, take a local stay at home vacation, travel locally or out of state safely, or just enjoy your own back yard too.  This is a time as well to chat with your neighbors, meet new neighbors, walk, jog, or ride a bike in the neighborhood, or enjoy the beauty of Semiahmoo, Blaine Harbor, Birch Bay or the many other parks and lake walking trails that make our days brighter.  For those new to the area, a great place to check out is Hovander Park too that includes gardens to view, several different pathways for short and longer trails too walk, and even an unleashed dog area too. Another favorite that is worth the drive is the North Whatcom Lake Trail. It is amazing beauty along the lake that you will want to go back again once you have walked this.  The trails are wide enough to enjoy social distancing as well.

Please if anyone else would like to share your local favorite spot to enjoy and take family and visitors to, I would like to add this information in the next newsletter. With new homeowners and renters moving into our neighborhood they would benefit from this information as well.  Also, I look forward to photos being sent to post in the newsletter and/or on the website too.

Sincerely,

Kathy Barnes
