Fall 2022 Has Been Great Weather for Yard Work and Fun Activities:
September was a record breaking month for sunshine instead of the past many years of the beginning days of rainfall. The October forecast next week looks very nice with continued abundant sunshine. This makes it easier for fall landscape clean-up, home projects, attendance at outdoor events, travels, and more. Also, keep in mind if any homeowner is doing landscaping work that is beyond normal weeding, raking of leaves, yard clean-up, and such that may possibly involve any major changes on their property and they are not sure if it needs board approval, please contact Judy Hamner with Elite Property Management
and she can have a discussion if the work will need board approval or request you put your request in writing and submit the necessary paperwork found on the HOA website too.
HOA Quarterly Drive Thru Will Occur Between October 20-22:
The fall quarterly drive through will happen sometime between October 20-22. For newer homeowners (and maybe a reminder for long time property owners too) this is a time that property owners landscaping looks pristine. This includes weeding, raking of leaves, pine needles, and pine cones; as well as bushes, trees, shrubs trimming (also no overhang into the sidewalks). In addition, reminders of garbage cans placed out of sight of the front and side yards and/or covered by a fence screen, or in many cases stored in the garage. Other items viewed include, but not limited to the following items might also be ladders, lawn mowers, wheel barrows, barbeques, in the front and side yards. Overall, all of these items mentioned should be of concerned year around too.
In addition, property owners need to also know that there is a limit of two vehicles in driveways. Of course, there will be times additional vehicles from visitors may be parked in a driveway, but overall for all homeowners there is a max of two vehicles per household parked ongoing in driveways and garage are to be used to park vehicles Guests can also park in the pull outs on a temporary basis, and no one homeowner can use a space on a regular basis either. This reminder too is for a limit of two cars in the driveway whether someone has a 2 car or 3 car garage. When in doubt about CC & R’s refer to the rules of the HOA.

Safety Matters Everywhere in Society – Including Our Own Loomis Trail Neighborhood:
Safety issues locally, on the state level, national level, are of great concern to many; including neighbors in Loomis Trail too. Thanks to Heather Jackson for reaching out to share information regarding the need to keep neighbors informed that there is an increase in Blaine and Whatcom County neighborhoods with car prowls. This even includes other gated communities besides ours such as Semiahmoo, Birch Bay Village, and other small gated or non – gated areas too.
Heather Jackson is a prior board member that lives on Ashbury Court and has a vested interest to make sure our neighbors are informed of the many car prowls and break ins that are occurring and many are listed weekly in the Northern Light Newspaper with the local Blaine incidents as well as other publications such as the Bellingham Herald, and social media announcements too.
As we enter the fall season the days and nights are getting darker more and potential thieves will possibly be snooping around more. Heather would like to remind neighbor to lock your cars, roll up your car windows, don’t leave items of value or anything really that is visible in a car that will entice someone to want to break into a vehicle in hopes of finding something of value. For some people these are desperate times and stealing can happen in an unlocked car or a locked car by just breaking a window. Homeowners need to lock your doors, shut your windows, and have some type of security lighting, and/or a home security camera to ward off potential thieves. No one will know if these measures will work for everyone individually, but overall they are working for many so far that have taken precautions. Also, it is important as an entire neighborhood to know if a potential thieve is snooping around and sees the potential of many cars with tools in them, bicycles left out in driveways, items of value notably visible a potential thief will sniff around and return.
Heather is also glad to arrange for neighbors that have concerns to arrange for a safety officer to chat with homeowners about personal safety concerns too. Heather can be reached at her email address at:
[email protected] for questions or concerns individuals may have.
Also, some words of advice is any theft can happen anywhere including our own neighborhood. If someone sees something happening or sees something strange happening in the neighborhood, don’t ignore it. Call call 911 to report it. Keep in mind, there may also be other reports too and this could be very important information. In the past many years we have been very fortunate so far to have few incidents and this is because many neighbors watch out for each other. Being vigilant and keeping communication open when there is a report also will be posted through our HOA news as an update too.
Heather has provided 11 easy things to do in our own homes to secure and home make our own homes and personal property safe at all times:

Heather has also provided an attachment of tips to review that is an additional great resource to review.
We all want our neighborhood to be safe and living in a gated community we all still need to be personally pro-active to be responsible for our own personal homes and property as nothing is ever going to be full proof. Please, as a reminder reporting a suspicious person is caring for yourself and your neighbors too.
Thanks to Heather Jackson for reaching out to include this topic of interest this month.
Also, remember Halloween will be here before we know it and some fall decorations are showing on porches already to prepare to greet the Halloween Trick or Treaters too. Enjoy the month ahead and wish for great continued weather too for Halloween.
