This is an update since the post from yesterday to keep everyone informed of the prowler incident. Thanks to Jim Mullally for sharing additional details regarding the recent incident at his home.
Jim reported that after doing more searching in the house after his initial report that items were stolen from his garage and his two vehicles. The additional information is being shared so that others in the neighborhood can know that anyone can be a victim of a crime or a prowler even in a gated community.
The prowler (mentioned as a male) walked through the house from gaining entry from the unlocked sliding back door as Jim found it wide open. He figured he went through the house to an internal door to the garage where there actually was a set of bells (noise makers) on the door that had been removed. In the garage odds and ends were taken such as power tools, flashlights, and he cleverly carried the items off in one of their five gallon buckets.
Most disturbing though the prowler raided their two cars, glove boxes, and took a Loomis Trail gate opener and one of their garage door openers too. Jim dealt with this yesterday to recode and discuss with Judy next steps too. Jim felt that given the items from the garage and car the person had a car nearby. The estimated value of items taken were $400-$500.
He also shared the deputies he talked to mentioned an additional car prowl Tuesday/Wednesday morning; however, no one has reported any other incidents to any of the board members in the neighborhood so far anyway. Also, no other neighbors have reported seeing anything so far on their cameras too.
On behalf of the BOD we appreciate that Jim has shared this information to the HOA so others are informed and lock their doors at all times. If anyone happens to see anything out of the ordinary, please file a report with the Sheriff’s Office.
Overall the neighborhood has had only a handful of incidents such as these. The best security for homeowners is to always keep your doors and cars locked at all times and to make personal decisions to install home security cameras.
One last reminder, looking forward to seeing as many homeowners that can make it to the HOA Annual Meeting tomorrow at 11:00am at the Loomis Trail Golf Club Meeting Room. Please remember to wear your mask and for those that forget masks will be available too.
Stay Healthy and Safe,
