Thanks & Appreciation to Aaron…
Aaron and Hillary Rockwell moved to Loomis back in 2006, at a time when both were commuting from Lynden to jobs in Bellingham (a slow drive each way, since Guide Meridian was still a two-lane road). “We wanted to build our own home and we never considered the Blaine and Birch Bay area too much. But when we drove out here and saw the new lots for sale, we decided to purchase the property. Being close to the natural beauty and openness of the wetlands and golf course, but still having all the city amenities available, was a great combination. We made the right decision and that’s why we’ve been here so long.”
The Board at that time started an email list and sent out newsletters in PDF form every month or quarter. A few years later in 2010, Aaron stepped up and offered to help bring our neighborly communications into the 21st century.
Initially he established a place for us in the cyber world on Google Sites. “It allowed us to store documents and let people subscribe to posts rather than sending out newsletters. It served us well, plus it was free.”
Ten years later, and still leading the charge, Aaron felt we needed to have our own domain name, so he moved us to the current site we are now using, https://thegreensatloomistrail.org/. “The conversion allowed us to use WordPress and apply custom themes and other features Google Sites couldn’t offer. It was much cleaner and more sophisticated than Google Sites. Also, I think having our own website reflected better on our neighborhood, especially those wanting to potentially move here.”
A son, Luke, was born to Aaron and Hillary along the way. “This is the only home he has ever known.” Luke is 15 and finishing his freshman year at Blaine High School. Hillary works from home as a meeting planner and administrator. Aaron has been an IT programmer at the same engineering company he started with in Bellingham 29 years ago.
Our deep-felt thanks and appreciation as a community go out to Aaron for his 13 years of outstanding and continuous service!!!
Welcome Aboard Renee…
Over the last couple of months Aaron has been assisting our new webmaster and fellow neighbor, Renee Jacobs, in the process of migrating our current website to a new hosting site— Bluehost. The transference has taken place over the last week, and it has ended up rendering some aspects temporarily unusable or inaccessible. One of which is our ability to send out this newsletter to our current subscribers. We appreciate your patience in these matters as we now seek to make the necessary updates and adjustments to get everything back up and running. We apologize for any frustrations or inconveniences this has caused you.
The board is deeply grateful to Renee for all the effort she has given in the transition. She is a fabulous resource, support, and encouragement to our board of directors. Aaron shared that he’s very happy with some of the upgrades on our new site, such as the ability to fill out comment and complaint forms electronically and confidentially.
Help Us Get To The Finish Line…
To help improve HOA communications and save money, we are asking that you grant us your permission to send communications via email, rather than “snail mail.” The mailing process is rather expensive, and these funds can be used effectively elsewhere.
The permission process will only take a few minutes.
- Download the form off our website- Preferred Communication Form
- Print and sign
- Take a photo or scan it.
- Send to Doug Moore at [email protected]
